A few bargains!

We're having a quiet week this week, tidying up the house sorting and a swimming trip. I'm pleased to report that T is feeling better, it was only a 24hr thing. Yesterday after taking the kids swimming in NISV we went to Tesco and in the left over Easter eggs aisle I found a Twilight Eclipse tin/sandwich box.

How cute is that. I've been fan of the books and loved the films so i'm sure I can find a use for this tin.

Then in the South Wales Echo last night I spotted an ad for a Bead Sale and Craft sale Marshfield Village Hall. So after lunch I decided to pop down and I was not disappointed. There were loads of beads on display different types on every table. I don't make jewellery but was seriously tempted to take it up after seeing all the lovely beads. I decided to buy some steampunk style pendants to use on cards or layouts. I got 2 types of clock faces, butterflies and a couple of findings to make a bracelet and necklace, some time in the future...

Time for me to say goodnight and enjoy the large glass of wine. Bye.

WOYWW 27th April 2011

Hi everyone and welcome to another WOYWW!  If you've been reading my blog you know that this week I have had a trip to Ikea to buy a new shelving unit for the craft area in my bedroom.  You can see it on the right in this picture with the purple bags on it.  That's cleared a load of room on my desk so I currently feel really organised and efficient.  Yesterday I managed to scrap a page from start to finish in 1 day, I still can't believe it!  Read about it here and click here to see the mini book I spoke about in last's weeks WOYWW all complete.  I'm on a roll at the moment!

Anyway, back to the newly organised and expaned craft corner:

Here is one half of my desk with the new shelving unit.  The big brown box on the bottom is full of my old knitting and cross stiching stuff along with A's drawing boxes.  The next shelf has a pink basket with all my Tim Holtz goodies next to them all my projects that are waiting to be finished.  The self above has a purple back with all my Thickers and Acrylic stamps and finally, the top shelf has Dawson's Creek dvds and my organizers with scissors, glue and other bits that you need to use on everything.

Thanks for coming by and looking if you want to see more desks go to the master list at Julia's Blog and I'll see you all later as I'm posting twice today to take part in a link up from Shimelle's Blog, why not call back later to see that as well?

Smile - loving the weather

Last Thursday I took the kids to stay in Carmarthen so A and I could have a couple of days sorting and organising in the house. That included the usual Bank Holiday visit to Ikea on Friday to buy a shelf unit for my crafting area (more on that in WOYWW tomorrow).  Instead of getting the kids back on Sunday we decided to spend a couple of nights in C'then as well so on Sunday we could go on a day trip to Tenby, we couldn't think of a better place to be on Easter Sunday. Amazingly I have managed to scrap 3 pix from the beach on Sunday today.  I have done a whole layout from start to finish today! I can't believe it - it usually takes months!  Here's the layout:

Journalling reads: Easter Sunday 24/4/11 We're having beautiful weather for April.  Temperatures are soring with a high of 26C.  We decided to make the most of the weather and head to Tenby on the train to enjoy time on the beach.

Finally finished! - the Halloween Mini Book

Here's the Halloween mini book i have been working on.  I'm really please as I managed to get it finished in a few nights I can now move onto the next thing!

It was made using the supplies mentioned in this post and 6" by 6" black chipboard pages and has 1" book rings holding it together and these have been decorated with ribbon.  I love it!

WOYWW 20th April 2011

Welcome to another WOYWW I can't believe how quick that week went! Thank you for all the lovely comments last week.  As you can see I cleaned out my desk and found lots of half finished and not started projects which i have decided to use the Easter holidays to complete them.

So today I'm working on a Halloween mini book from Halloween 200* - it's that long ago I can't remember which year it was!  We hosted a little party for the kids and some of their friends and I got to try out some Nigella recipes that I had been wanting to try for ages.  For the minibook I'm using papers from KI memories, run on's from Pink Paislee and some Echo Park hybrid elements printed out from JessicaSprage.com.  I love her One Buck Wednesdays and usually buy a couple of things each week (I'll probably buy this Photoshop Friday today).

Easter Holidays have begun

The kids broke up on Friday for Easter so today is the first day of the holidays for them.  No fixed plans for us yet but I'm hoping to do some crafty things with them.  I'm still working during the holidays so the days will be a bit limited but I'm sure we'll find lots to do.  At the moment I'm having a visit from Batman and found pix of Fireman Sam toys on the camera so that means the boys are having fun.  Yesterday we made rice crispie nests with eggs in them so we have plenty of snacks for today.  Here's some pix of the cakes:

and to finnish a fireman same one...

WOYWW 13 April 2011

Hi guys!  A rather cold WOYWW today.  I'm sitting here in a tshirt, jumper and coat and I just can't get warm!  Only a small part of my desk today as it is a total mess with to much on it (a good sort out will be done later) and all you can see a pile of beaded safety pins ready to be made into a bracelet like this, just need to get some elastic to bind them all together.

Here are the two pages I was working on last week.  Still need to give them titles but i'm useless at deciding what to put.  I need to find a course that will help me come up with titles for the pages.  At the moment I'm thinking of "Sort-of Cousins" for the first one and "Stonehouse" for the second (and green one) as that was the name of the pub garden the photo was taken in.

More Card Commissions

Over the last few weeks I have received quite a few commissions for cards and these two have to be my favorite.  The first one is a wedding card which I made from Sj's Little Musings range.  The set I set was "I do" "I do too" from digi stamp shop a bargain at £1.50.  I love this card, so simple and elegant, can't wait to use the rest of the stamps in the range.

The other commission was for a Christening Card and feeling so inspired from my wedding card I slightly copied the same technique on this card by printing the message directly onto the card.

I loved these cards so much I made more than one so they will be available to buy from FCC soon.

WOYWW 6 April 2011

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the lovely comments on last weeks WOYWW. Here's a link to the lovely cards I made for Mother's Day. Finally managed to do some scrapbooking tonight so here's my work bed rather than work desk.

You can see I've been working on a couple of pages, they're kits from Scrapbus a local crop that's held in Newport. I haven't been able to attend for ages but found time on Saturday to pop in and pick up some kits. They do lovely kits that are easy to put together - I managed to complete 2 layouts tonight - just got the titles to do. What have you been too this week.

Mother's Day Card Ideas

I have been lucky enough to be selling my handmade cards at the Forest Children's Centre in Duffryn, Newport. This year is the first year i've had requests for Mother's Day Cards so off I went last week to create some. Here are the ones I made from the tags i showed you in Wednesday's WOYWW post.

Last Thursday night Hobbycraft had a friends and family night where you could get 20% off all purchases so I promptly went and bought the crown jewels glimmer mist set and a couple of embossing folders for my Vagabond. Feeling inspired I made these 2 cards using the embossing folders, some prima flowers and a message all covered in pearl glimmer mist.

Love them so much I can't wait to play some more and make some birthday cards.
